Step 5 : Activate SoftGate / HiPath Access License.

You have two possibilities to install the license:

1. Install the license via CLM (Customer License Manager). CLM can be installed on another computer in the network or on the local host after CLA installation.
2. The license can alternatively be imported by copying the license file to the CLA import directory /opt/cla/import.
When the license is installed with copying it to the import directory, it will be read from the import directory, checked and then copied to the directory/opt/cla/license. After this the license file will be deleted from the import directory.

How to Activate SoftGate / HiPath Access License ?

The "Locking ID" in the license file must always be HiPath4000 SoftGate's MAC address.
1. Check SoftGate MAC address with command
ifconfig eth0

2. Check the SoftGate License status.
- Open Web browser to HiPath Access IP address. e.g. https://192.168.100.180
- Click on Status icon.

The 30-days grace period begins when HiPath4000 SoftGate is started.

If within the 30-days grace period no valid license has been activated the HiPath4000 SoftGate can no longer be administered.

3. Copy License file to HiPath Access directory /opt/cla/import/

4. Check the SoftGate License status After Activate License.

After installing the license you can find it in the directory /opt/cla/license.

Important Notes
• The "Locking ID" in the license file must always be HiPath 4000 SoftGate’s/HiPath Access 500’s eth 0 MAC address.
• The 30-day grace period begins when HiPath 4000 SoftGate is started, when the license has not been installed before.
• If within the 30-day grace period no valid license has been activated the HiPath 4000 SoftGate can no longer be administered.
